ONE Houston hosts regular meetings at Ripley House for it's Issue Action Teams. These teams discuss opportunities to take action around community hubs (schools), exclusionary discipline, and immigrant, refugee, and undocumented student supports. During this meeting in particular, we will dedicate time to discussing our next steps in regards to school policing in HISD.
ONE Houston invites you to learn more about the state of school policing in Houston. During our teach-in, we will walk the community through our findings on school policing and seek your input. We will also celebrate our amazing partnership with the ACLU of Texas and the Texas Criminal Justice Coalition.
ONE Houston understands that an informed public is powerful. Join us for an evening with the candidates in the HISD School Board runoff elections to learn about where they stand on issues directly impacting HISD students. We will be asking the candidates for District 1 and District 3 to commit to supporting our immigrant, refugee, undocumented students, families and colleagues.
All four candidates will be in attendance.

Join ONE Houston for our end of year gathering. We will celebrate our wins, hold our community accountable for changes and commitments, and also provide a teach-in so that educators and community members can better understand the rights and needs of our students and families that may identify as undocumented. This school year has already been a time of community and coalition building, so we look forward to bringing together the network and inviting others to join us in the work continuing forward.
Issue Action Teams are built around the issues that were singled out during community Issues Assemblies. These teams meet on a regular basis to identify concrete actions that can be taken to affect change around issues like exclusionary discipline, community resources, supporting undocumented, immigrant, and refugee students.
